Consists of copies of the official SHAEF report on Buchenwald and twelve files of reports involving specific areas of pronounced interest in the camp. The reports cover a wide variety of topics such as prisoner conditions, atrocities of the SS, statistics of inmate deaths, lists of prominent persons in the camp, information about the "Kleinen Lager," reports of other Nazi concentration camps in Europe, and the liberation of the camp. The majority of the reports are constructed from the testimony of Buchenwald survivors.

The Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) was established in on Feb. 13, 1944 in London, England under the command of General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Following the invasion of Europe, SHAEF was moved to Versailles, France (Aug. 1944-May 1945), and later for Frankfurt, Germany. SHAEF was dissolved on July 14, 1945.
